Thanksgiving is only one day away! This is the season to be thankful, not just for the great food we will be cooking but for our families, friends and of course the food on our plates. It can be a hectic day for those of us hosting this year, but there’s a few things we can w can do to occupy everyone.
The Children….
The best thing for them is crafts! Thanksgiving crafts are easy, and require little clean up, which is what we are looking for. With the kids in a program I teach we created a Thanksgiving tree, and a thankful Turkey. We gave them a print out of a tree, and then cut out leaf shaped paper in different fall colors. They then wrote on each leaf WHAT they are thankful for. The Turkey was just a cut out Turkey body that we glued on for the kids. Then just like we we did for the Tree, we just cut out feathers for the kids to write WHO they were thankful for, and the glued it on the Turkey.
The Men…
This is an easy one… put them to work. Let them help you set everything up, clean around the house and prepare for the company.
The Relatives…
Make a cozy space for them to be able to sit, relax and talk while you are preparing the food. Maybe set up a fun little game to occupy their time, put on a movie, or a Football game (which is the only thing allowed on in my house).
Try not to forget what this Holiday is really about. Yes there is a lot of running around and stress behind it, but we have to remember to always be Thankful what we have!
